PMDC NRE-I Workspace — File Inventory Log

Snapshot: 2026-10-06 08:28 (rescan — supersedes the 06:18 snapshot) Scope: entire /NRE Prep workspace, recursive. Method: find walk. Excludes node_modules, .DS_Store, and nested .git internals (all reproducible/incidental, not study content).

This is a descriptive log only. Nothing was moved, renamed, or regenerated. Per AGENTS.md, this is an allowed derivative artifact.

The raw ~25,000 figure is misleading — 22,000+ of those are node_modules dependencies in web/, .opencode/, and Side Projects/Topic Template/. 2,811 is the real number.

What Changed Since the 06:18 Snapshot

The web/ Astro site was rebuilt between 06:18 and 08:14, and two folders were deleted.

What this resolves

The 06:18 log flagged “three overlapping web representations.” That is now solved — web/ is the single web project. The two resources/ trees that were byte-identical duplicates (Web Package/site/resources/ and web/public/resources/) are now just one: web/public/resources/, 66 files.

Build chain: npm run build → build_vault.py (mirrors the whole workspace’s .md files into content/vault/) → astro build. dev and start do the same. The vault is read-only input; the script writes only into web/.

Current published surface: 66 legacy resources + 45 vault notes → 45 /docs/ routes + /vault, /papers, /drills, /plan, /index.

Test Series/mainbank_work/ and mock200_work/ hold successive build snapshots, not distinct documents (788/798/800/803/807/808 verified; mock200 _base/_markup/_noside/Perfect). Only the last of each is live.

Every file in web/public/resources/ (66) is a copy of one of the above with a uniform +5,271-byte  overlay injected at line 237 — a client-side passphrase screen with SHA-256 verification. It is a cosmetic lock, not authentication; every resource is readable in dist/ source.

What Changed Since `SYSTEM_MAP.md` (last written 2026-06-25)

SYSTEM_MAP.md predates 17 folders that now exist. It is accurate for what it covers but structurally incomplete. Additions it does not document:

Correction to SYSTEM_MAP.md line 371: it states “No dedicated error-log file was found.” That is now outdated — Error Log/ exists with a README and two dated entries (2026-08-13, 2026-09-12), and System/Templates/Error_Log_Template.docx + .csv provide the schema. Error-log storage is resolved.

MedCORE/ itself is unchanged since 2026-06-12 and its documented subfolder list in SYSTEM_MAP.md is stale — actual structure is now MedCORE-Pipeline/ (32), MedCORE-Publisher/ (18), MedCORE-Script/ (3), not the 12-subject list.

Observations

iCloud is duplicating generated files inside web/. All 45 files in web/src/content/vault/ have a byte-identical 2.md twin, and web/dist/ holds 108 * 2.html twins. build_vault.py writes only {slug}.md with uniqueness guaranteed by assign_slugs(), so this is iCloud’s duplicate-naming, not a script bug. Every build risks re-duplicating. Fix: purge the 2 copies, and consider excluding web/src/content/vault/ and web/dist/ from iCloud sync.
web/dist/ is build output, a large share of total size. Regenerable — safe to exclude from any future inventory.
Print Versions/ (134 files) duplicates existing DOCX. Derived print renders, not primary content.
MedCORE content is duplicated across four generations: MedCORE/ (53, Jun), MedCORE Systems/ (56, Sep), MedCORE Production/ (717, Sep), MedCORE Next/ (252, Sep).
Ten published resources have no source file. standalone-htmls-nre-cheat-card.html and -nre-pattern-analysis.html are referenced by plan.astro, site/index.html and manifest.json but have no plausible parent anywhere in the workspace — they would not survive a rebuild. Eight others (medical-quick-reference-{dark,light,combined}, magic-table-medical-licensing, the three -answer-key files, may-2026-mcq-breakdown) are renamed derivations of files that do still exist.
Two notes collide on slug in MedCORE Production/Docs/: MCQ Progress Log.md and MCQ_PROGRESS_LOG.md. assign_slugs() disambiguates by appending the folder, giving mcq-progress-log and mcq-progress-log-docs. Both are published.
Empty folders awaiting work: MedCORE Systems/Applied Pathology/, MedCORE Systems/Clinical Pharmacology/, MedCORE/MedCORE-Publisher/agents/.
Error log is thin — two dated entries against 549 study documents. Protocol is well-defined but under-used.
One git repo: nested Test Series/.git (18 files). Workspace root and web/ are not repos — the site build is unprotected by version control.
Incidental residue: Scripts/__pycache__/, .bak/.bak-flat/.bak-repag, FCPS1 … Paper 3 April 2026 Volume 2.json.
Misfiling: Past Papers/NRE June 2025/NRE June 2024.md — a June 2024 paper stored inside the June 2025 folder.
Dormant areas: Images/ (Jun 9), Quick References/ (Jun 8), Misc/ (May 9), Diagnostic Codes/ (May 9), Color Palettes/ (Jun 18) — untouched for 3–5 months.
Active right now: web/, Test Series/, Standalone HTMLs/, 25MCQs/ — all touched within the last 48 hours.

Reconciliation Note

MedCORE Production/Source JSON/ (416) + MedCORE Next/Data/ (251) + Test Series/mainbank_work/ (65) + Test Series/mock200_work/ (35) + QBank/ JSON payloads together account for the large JSON count. These are machine-readable sources feeding the generator scripts in Scripts/ — they are the pipeline’s actual substrate, not redundant copies.

web/src/content/vault/ (90) is generated from the 52 source notes; web/public/resources/ (66) from the 95 source HTMLs. Neither should be counted as study content.

Regenerate this log with a find-based walk. Do not hand-edit counts.
